5. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai will always be my favorite city. It’s a city in the United Arab Emirates. It’s my favorite city for the fact it was my first international travel and also a solo trip. I loved Dubai because it is a very safe place for a solo woman.
I have been to Dubai a couple of times and stayed there for a month. It has very inspiring malls, theme parks, and beautiful gardens. Dubai Mall, Mall of Emirates, Ibn-Batuta Mall, Dubai Festival City Mall, Wafi Mall are some of my favorite malls. Dubai Mall opens to the famous Burj Khalifa tower.
Burj Khalifa has 163 floors; it is one of the most famous attractions in Dubai. Right under the tower famous fountain dance show takes place after every hour, every time a different theme of song or music is played.
The culture in Dubai can be different for people coming from other parts of the world as it is located in a Muslim state and majority of the people living in Dubai follow the religion, Islam.
Women fully cover themselves, if you are looking forward to traveling to Dubai make sure you are fully dressed as in some cases people get fined for showing extra skin.
4. Istanbul, Turkey
Istanbul is a very beautiful city in Turkey. It connects both Asia and Europe which makes this city very special. Istanbul will always be my favorite city as I recently got engaged here.
My fiancé and I met here for the very first time. Istanbul has some of the most museums, palaces, and shopping bazaars. I spent two weeks in Istanbul. Taksim Square and Sultanahmet are the most famous areas. Taksim square connects with all the major locations of the city.
Istanbul is part of a Muslim country but they have a different culture in Europe and Asia side. We stayed mostly on the European side.
Moda Park is very famous in Asia whereas Europe has a lot of famous museums like Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahçe Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Carpet Museum, Galata Tower, Spice Bazar, Maiden’s Tower, Grand Bazar, Bosphorus bridge, Basilica Cistern, Taksim square, Istaklal Avenue, Princess Island, Galata Bridge, Ortakoy bridge, Obelisk of Theodosius, Golden Horn.
Istaklal street is a very busy and famous street in Istanbul. This street got everything you need. It is always full of entertainment, busy 24/7. Istaklal Street never sleeps. It has lots of branded shops and malls. You can even shop for souvenirs here at a fair price. Turkish food is amazing. Do not forget to try their awesome food.
3. Girne, North Cyprus
Girne is a city located in North Cyprus. It is a very beautiful and quiet small city, with very less population. North Cyprus is only 1 hour 40 minutes flight away from Istanbul, Turkey. I took a short two days trip to North Cyprus to visit my friend.
Cyprus is divided into two regions North and South. North Cyprus comes under Turkey government and South comes under Greece. For most of the people, North Cyprus visa is offered on arrival after looking at proof of your accommodation and insurance. I loved Girne as it was very peaceful there, the landscape views were amazing. North Cyprus also follows Islamic culture.
There are no hard and fast rules when it comes in terms of dressing. The place has lots of bars, pubs and strip clubs. Some people call it mini Las Vegas. You will find Casino on almost every road. Kyrenia Castle, Bellapais Abbey, Kyrenia Harbour, Mavi Köşk. Mavi Köşk is a blue mansion located on the top of a mountain.
This was built in 1957 by Byron Pavlides, a Greek Cypriot entrepreneur, and friend of Archbishop Makarios. Ezic Peanuts and Avanti were my two favorite restaurants in Girne. They had amazing ambiance and views. Ezic peanuts are located on the harbor, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea from there.
2. Lahore, Pakistan
Lahore is known as the city of lights. I love Lahore not only for the fact that it’s my hometown but also it is a very lively and overwhelming city. It is a very happening city with lots of events happening around the year.
Lahore is divided into two parts: Old Lahore and New Lahore. Old Lahore has a lot of museums and historical buildings. New Lahore is build of many shopping centers, movie theatres, and some recreational parks.
Badshahi Mosque, Sheesh Mehal, Lahore Fort, Wazir Khan Mosque, Shalimar Gardens, Minar e Pakistan, Tomb of Jehangir, Hiran Minar, Lahore zoo, Lahore Museum, Jalo Park, Wagha Border, Safari Park, Army Museum are some of the historical places in Lahore.
Emporium Mall, Packages Mall, Fortress Square malls are some of the malls where you can find almost all international and local brands. Liberty market is also very famous for shopping. Jilani Park and Model Town Park are some of the famous gardens in the city. Lahore follows Islamic culture so when traveling to Lahore one should be fully covered and in proper dress.
Regarding its food, it’s amazing. Some of the recommended food places in Lahore are Spice Bazar, Monal, Freddy’s and Gourmet restaurant. Bahria Town is also a must visit the place. Grand Mosque and Eifel Tower are worth a visit. MM Alam and food street are also very famous place in the city that offer a variety of food.
1. Islamabad, Pakistan
Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. It is my favorite city as it connects with many beautiful Northern areas like Himalaya’s, Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Kashmir and many other beautiful places. Islamabad is a mountainous city with beautiful landscapes and many beautiful sites.
Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa Museum, Islamabad Zoo, Lake view park, Pakistan Museum of natural history, Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, Pir Sohawa, Saidpur Village, Rawal Lake, Khanpur dam, Shakarparian, Margalla Hills, Orchid Park, Pakistan Monuments Museum, Neela Sandh Picnic Point are some of the famous places to see in Islamabad.
The Centauras Mall, Safa Gold Mall, Giga Mall, Emporium Mall Islamabad, Mall of Islamabad, Olympus Mall are some of the famous malls in Islamabad. Islamabad is great for family activities and outdoor activities.
It has great hiking and picnic spots. Islamabad has some of the best health facilities and better law and order compared to rest of the cities in Pakistan.
People mostly visit Islamabad to get to other Northern areas in Pakistan. It is a very clean and scenic city. Islamabad is the only 1-hour flight away from Lahore; I usually prefer going there on road. On road, it takes normally 5-6 hours on normal pace drive from Motorway.
The road trip has some amazing views of mountains and landscapes.
