Vi hot LoL Cosplay, Ekkokia

My name is Ekkokia, I am from Madrid, Spain. I have attended the conventions of Japan Weekend, Manga Heroes, Comic Heroes, Gamergy, and many more.

Cosplay Discovery

The truth, I discovered the cosplay world about 5 years ago and I fell in love with it, but it was not until a year and a half ago that I decided to start dedicating myself to it as a hobby, although I had previously worn a cosplay but not I did it, but my mother bought it for my birthday.

First Convention

My first convention as a cosplayer was in September last year, I had a very simple cosplay but I had a great time, but it was not until the Japan Weekend of February of this year that I got to know the people.

One of the best conventions for me since people admired my work and congratulated me for it, and that made me feel very good. The most distant convention I’ve ever attended (obnoxiously without cosplay) I think it was 6-7 years ago, to which one of my cousins took me.

Costume/Gear/Props/Armor

It’s complicated to explain, because my first cosplay to start was Vi (League of Legends) but it was so big that I finished it in January, but I made it simpler for December than an invented version of Jinx (League of Legends ), so I do not know which of the two to consider the first.

I have 7 cosplays made by me 2 gifts and 5 in process. To be able to make my first suit, I had to tell myself a lot on the internet of how other people did, that is, what materials used, how they made up, etc.

Then began to disassemble (so to speak) the drawing of the character in pieces (shoulder pads, knee pads, shoes, top …) and then I started to have patterns and to start working the materials, although I had to learn to sew for myself it was not as difficult as I thought.

In my opinion, I cannot make a list of quality of my costumes since I put my effort into making them and they all have small flaws that people do not see but that I do see, so I do not have a favorite cosplay, true, all I do are my favorites.

Definition of Cosplayer

For me being a cosplayer is the opportunity to get out of the monotony of the day-to-day, the opportunity to be who you want to be and not be judged for it. For me, the best thing about being a cosplayer is when you get the support of your followers because they like what you do.

Unforgettable Experience

My worst experience was when a boy made me a cologne man (they were giving samples of that colony) in the back and I stayed all day smelling like a man.

Admiration

I admire a lot of cosplayers, like Knitemaya, yuegene_fay, piratacristina, geheichou, etc … they all met them through social networks. As a next interview, I recommend Kindrex, who is a friend of mine who does not give a critic on bad cosplay.

Achievements

Up to this point, I am starting to take part in the runways. As a cosplayer to start I want to improve more so I can make myself known since I love seeing the amazed face of my followers.

Piece of Advice

My advice to novice cosplayers is that they do not get discouraged if they see that their outfit is not better than others, late or late is just improving.
Another tip is that if you see that you do not have time to complete a cosplay for a convention, instead of doing it fast and bad, leave it for the next convention (the trick to give you time to do everything is good planning)

Future Conventions

Generally, you can find me in almost all the conventions that are held in Madrid, Maybe in Barcelona in the future, we’ll see. You could check me my Instagram account for future conventions.

  1. I have always been fascinated by all those persons dressing up like their favorite mangas and other characters! It sure looks really cool, but I think I’ll put my efforts more into something else like traveling. Must be nice to go to one Cosplay just once!

Hi Lucile, it’s so nice to hear about your perception. It’s nice to sometimes do something that you have never that before. I recommend you to attend conventions first so you’ll see how they works on the stage and with people.

I am sending a link to your blog and this interview to my eldest daughter who is also a huge cosplay fan and is currently making some herself, whilst studying production design for stage and screen at university.

    • Alexine says:

Hey Mandi, thanks a lot. I hope you’ll daughter will like it. I’m trying to help cosplayers in my own simple way. I believe that they should be more exposed and deserved a recognition.

  5. That first cos is awesome, especially with how she’s got the hands hidden. It’s good advice too, to make sure you’ve given yourself time to do it right and to not get discouraged when you see others do it better. I think that goes in all disciplines.

  6. Patricia says:

My husband is into cosplay but he only does it locally. This is a great article. Never considered traveling with it, although after reading this I will look into it.

    • Alexine says:

So glad to hear that your husband is into cosplay, not a lot of peopl really appreciate it but it’s not just only for kids but for adults as well. I suggest you should try to attend one of the conventions in your town with your husband. Support him and I’m sure he’ll love it!

  7. My son is really into Cosplay, too! He does an amazing job with his costumes and I’ve had to give him the same advice you gave here: Don’t get discouraged when you aren’t the best. Keep adding on. He goes to a con every year in Atlanta. If you are ever stateside, maybe y’all will bump into each other.

    • Alexine says:

Hey Alicia, that’s really cool that you kid goes to conventions in your place. I would love to see his works, I’m sure he’s doing great cause he has an awesome mother like you. Those are fantastic advises that you gave!

This is so awesome. I wish I had the talent to create a work of art like these costumes.

    • Alexine says:

Thank you Luci, I’m sure you can! first of all you can try to cosplay by buying your own costumes or else you can make it if you’d love to. Attending conventions is a must, you’ll surely be amaze how this people are in real.

While I don’t participate in cosplay myself – I am amazed at others. The sheer creativity to bring the costumes and characters to life is fantastic. Never in my life would I be able to replicate it down to the smallest details.

    • Alexine says:

Hey Sami, I think all of us are amazed by these cosplayers. We actually don’t need to be perfect cosplaying is an art that requires you to feel good to make other people happy. The moment that people will see you portraying their favorite character from a movie, anime etc., you’ll have that feeling of contentment inside you.
